Born in Dehradun, Vir Das spent his childhood in Africa and studied in Indian Language School, Lagos, Nigeria, Shimla and Delhi. He obtained his graduation in Economics & Theatre from Knox College, Illinois. He also joined Harvard University, Cambridge to study Moscow Arts Theatre.
Vir Das appeared first time as stand-up comedian at Knox College followed by other performance with the Moscow Arts Theatre. He came to India in 2003 since then he has performed more than 100 comedy shows. Besides these he holds 35 plays, 8 TV shows and 6 comedy specials in his account.
Vir Das debuted in acting with Bollywood movie Mumbai Salsa in a cameo appearance. Later he appeared in Namastey London, Mumbai Calling, Love Aaj kal, Badmaash Company and Delhi Belly and soon he will be seen in Sooper Se Ooper.
