India cricket team’s newly appointed bowling Coach Joe Dawes began his career as a plainclothes policeman and served the duty for eight years until he became the part of national cricket team.

Interestingly his job responsibilities included dealing with armed robberies, drugs squad, child abuse and so many things. He was picked to play for states eventually Joe's talent attracted critic's eyeballs. Soon he was appointed as first class bowler to play international matches.

However he is going to become Indian coach he remembers his policeman duty & responsibilities stating, “It allowed me to enjoy my cricket. I enjoyed being a policeman, but I loved being a cricketer, and I enjoyed the balance between the two. You have a bad day at cricket, you got to work, and cricket was my escape from the police job”.
