We don’t need to mention how versatile actress Kangana Ranaut is. The way she has performed her unusual characters in previous films like Krrish 3 and Queen, she has left all her contemporaries a step backward in the talent race. Presented by Ponty Chadha's Wave Cinemas, Revolver Rani is based on real life of Alka Singh, a dacoit from the Chambal Valley, who later enters politics. When asked about the role and experienced of essaying this meaty role, Kangana said the role demanded that she steps out of her comfort zone. “The film was a challenge as it extracted from me much more, physically and emotionally,” she said.
Film director Sai Kabir, who is fascinated towards pulp fiction, describes Alka as a woman who is angry with the world. “She is a cold gangster-turned-politician with fire within her,” he said, adding about his interest why he did this film, “Pulp fiction has always fascinated me.”
On being quizzed about the wired theme and subject, Raju Chadha, one of producers of the film and Chairman of Wave Group, added, “We have always believed in making and distributing clutter-breaking cinema, be it Kahaani, OMG Oh My God, or Special 26. With Revolver Rani, we hope to introduce a new genre to the Indian audience.”
Revolver Rani, a Crouching Tiger production in association with Moving Pictures and Tigmanshu Dhulia, releases April 25.
