Ekta Kapoor, a big name in the world of entertainment industry being a successful film producer and TV serial director, is reportedly also involved in casting in her projects. She suggests name of actors or newcomers to the film makers. In fact, the casting of her upcoming film Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi was also formed under her instructions.
As per the sources Ekta visited Prithvi theatre last year to watch a play titled Hero, where she discovered the talent of Siddharth Gupta, the lead man of the play. By the time the curtains came down, she knew who to cast in the lead in one of her next films, Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi. It was Siddharth she finalized in her mind for the quirky role of Kuku in the film. Although Paresh Rawal's son Aditya and Huma Qureshi's brother Saqib Saleem were lead contenders of the role, but Siddharth beat the two and grabbed the role, which he is very thankful too.
Siddharth Gupta is younger brother of Vikas Gupta who once worked with her and is now the programming head in a music channel. However, Ekta had no idea about his real identity. She judged him by his talent which she saw in the theater.
Talking about the role of Siddharth, he plays a guy from a lower middle class family in his debut film who feels he is jinxed. “Uska bad luck bahut strong hai, issi liye uski jhand hoti rehti hai," says Siddharth who is a qualified engineer. “I wanted to become an actor so I joined a theatre group and landed a three-film contract with Balaji,” he said.
