Ace filmmaker Anurag Kashyap’s period drama Bombay Velvet, which features Bollywood heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor, has attained solo release date. The Besharam actor is elated with the development and says this will fetch more audience and affect the business of the project. Earlier, it was slated to have a clash with Aamir Khan's PK. But now, Bombay Velvet will release on November 28 and Rajkumar Hirani's PK will hit cinema houses on December 19.
Speaking about the changes, Ranbir, who was at the warp up party of Bombay Velvet, said, “I think it is the correct release date as we will get more theatres. We don't want to clash with another film as it affects the business of a film. It is the best film. And we hope the audience will like the film.”
Starring Ranbir, Anushka Sharma and Sushant Singh Rajput is the lead roles, Bombay Velvet, which is the first in a planned trilogy, tells the story of how Bombay became a metropolis. It is based on historian Gyan Prakash's book Mumbai Fables. Ranbir, who has don retro look for film, appreciates Anurag’s hard work for this project. “Anurag has made this film with lot of hard work and love. It has been a dream of Anurag for nine years. We hope a wider audience sees this film as it is an entertaining and engaging film,” he averred.
The film also stars film director and producer Karan Johar, who will debut as villain in the film. Ranbir and Anushka Sharma, who have been paired for the first time in the film, play lovers whose lives intermingle with the evolution of the city of Bombay, through the 50s to early 70s.
